Ethan Lancaster

3D Visualization Student | 3D Modeling & Design

Shawnee, Kansas

Professional Profile

I am a 3D design student with a B.S. and Autodesk experience dating back to engineering and architecture coursework in high school. I build models to real-world scale, work from sketches and references, organize project files, and revise designs after feedback.

I also bring seven years of store operations experience and now work full time in financial services, where accuracy, confidentiality, communication, and teamwork matter every day. I am interested in CAD and technical visualization work where I can contribute my 3D modeling experience while learning professional design standards.

CURRENT INDEPENDENT STUDY

Chesterfield Mall Project

I am rebuilding the mall I grew up with to practice reading plans, drawing useful CAD, checking real-world scale, organizing a larger Maya scene, and revising the work as I find better information. I am keeping the mistakes and corrections in the project notes because they show what I am learning from each pass.

Seven years in fast-paced store operations balancing transaction accuracy, customer service, safety, changing priorities, and dependable attendance.

Technical Skills

CAD & Autodesk

AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit through foundational coursework; Maya and 3ds Max for 3D modeling and visualization.

Modeling & Design

Real-world scale and proportion, reference-based modeling, plan-reading fundamentals, hard-surface and architectural forms, clean topology, UV mapping, and scene organization.

Rendering & Materials

Arnold, Redshift, and Substance 3D for material, lighting, and presentation studies.

Project Strengths

Iterative design, file organization, revision from feedback, accuracy, confidentiality, dependable attendance, teamwork, and learning new software.

Design Experience

I have worked on academic and independent 3D modeling projects since 2015. My projects include hard-surface props, architectural forms, modular environments, material studies, and a parameter-driven waterslide study in Maya. I use real-world scale, references, organized scene structures, UV mapping, and validation renders, then revise the work after instructor or mentor feedback.

Retro Hardware & Retro 3D

I am a retro hardware and retro 3D enthusiast. When I explore older software, I use real hardware and maintain retro computer builds that let me experience the tools in the environment they were designed for. That hands-on perspective helps me understand where modern 3D workflows came from instead of treating older software as a novelty.

Classic Tetris

I am a DAS player of the original NES version of Tetris and stream under the name Ethan Thoughts. My path into Classic Tetris started after I recovered my stolen Game Boy. Back in my dorm, my roommates began challenging me to beat their scores, and those friendly competitions eventually led me to NES Tetris.

The online scene and the people I have met at in-person events made me want to become a stronger player and share the game with more people. I stream my own matches, host community games, and continue working toward a maxout. I have also contributed from the broadcast desk, including being listed as a caster for the 2025 Jonas Neubauer Cup, the premier North American DAS championship.

Areas I am developing

CAD design fundamentalsTechnical visualizationArchitectural visualizationEnvironment modelingMaterials and look developmentProduction review and quality control

I want to build a long-term career in 3D design and visualization. I am especially interested in CAD design internships where I can contribute my modeling experience, learn established design standards, and keep strengthening the technical side of my work.
