Pool Zone

An ongoing study of creating believable indoor aquatic environments through modeling, water, materials, lighting, waterslides, and workflow tools in Maya.

Autodesk Maya - Arnold base render - Post-production

Pool Room Environment

A finished pool-room view built from a Maya and Arnold base render with a final color and post-production pass.

Waterslide generator

The yellow waterslide was made with a Maya tool I am developing. It builds an enclosed slide along a NURBS curve, so I can change the path without rebuilding each section by hand.

I am still working through a Maya scripting book and improving the tool as I learn. The goal is to speed up repeated modeling steps and make it easier to try new layouts.

Pool generator

I never get tired of making pools manually, but I wanted to see how the same idea could work for the pool itself. This work-in-progress tool speeds up the basic pool shell so I can spend more time on stairs, coping, drains, water, and the details that make each pool feel different.

I also want to work through more advanced additions, including visually believable filtration parts. It is a visualization tool, not a hydraulic, safety, or engineering design system.

Water Material Sheets

Water Material Sheets

These are water shades I have made and adjusted for my pool rooms. Each sheet uses the same pool camera and aqua mosaic tile so the water color, transmission, and ripple response are easier to compare. Lighting, depth, tile, and the surrounding room still change how each material looks.
